Rick P. Calpitano leads Oasis Builders LLC with more than 30 years of experience in construction, property restoration, and damage evaluation. Over that period, Oasis Builders has completed well over $100 million in projects, ranging from residential repairs and renovations to roofing, custom construction, historic restoration, and complex commercial work.

Rick began his career in real estate investment and property redevelopment. That experience taught him to look beyond visible damage and understand how a building was constructed, what failed, what a proper repair requires, and what the work should cost. Today, he brings that practical perspective to both Oasis Builders’ construction projects and his work as a construction expert witness.

Insurance Restoration and Property Damage

A major part of Rick’s career has been helping property owners recover after damage to their homes and businesses. His experience includes storm, wind, hail, water, fire, roofing, and building-envelope damage, as well as complicated restoration projects where hidden conditions become apparent only after work begins.
 

Rick has helped thousands of customers facing denied or underpaid insurance claims. He investigates building conditions, documents damage, develops repair scopes, evaluates estimates, and explains the construction work needed to restore a property properly. When an insurer’s proposed repair does not address the full damage or the actual cost of the work, Rick helps owners and their legal teams understand the difference.

He works closely with more than 25 attorneys in South Florida, providing construction knowledge that helps them evaluate disputes, prepare cases, and pursue fair claim resolutions. His role is grounded in firsthand building experience: he has managed the work, encountered the conditions in the field, and understands how repairs are performed.
 

Construction Expert Witness

As an expert witness, Rick evaluates construction defects, property damage, repair methods, project costs, and disputes involving contractors and insurers. His work can include site inspections, damage assessments, estimates, document reviews, written opinions, and testimony.
 

Rick’s approach is to make complex construction issues understandable. He connects what can be seen at a property with the building methods, materials, costs, and sequence of work behind it. That clarity helps owners, attorneys, insurers, and other decision-makers assess what happened and what it will take to correct it.
 

Leading Oasis Builders

Rick remains personally involved in Oasis Builders’ projects, from early evaluation and planning through construction and completion. The company’s work includes luxury renovations, additions, custom homes, historic properties, roofing, impact windows and doors, and commercial construction. Capra Design LLC, Oasis Builders’ in-house design company, helps coordinate design decisions with construction requirements and the owner’s goals.
 

Oasis Builders was the contractor of record for the recording studio buildout at The Setai Hotel in Miami Beach, working directly with Lenny Kravitz and Kravitz Design. Whether the assignment is a distinctive new space, a damaged property, or a disputed repair, Rick brings the same focus to the work: understand the building, document the details, and take responsibility for getting the construction right.

Karin Capra is the visionary behind CAPRA DESIGN, the in-house design division of Oasis Builders. With more than a decade of experience in high-end residential design, design leadership, and project management, she brings creativity, precision, and a personal commitment to every project.

Throughout her career, Karin has led a diverse portfolio of projects across varying scales, complexities, and budgets, approaching each with the same intention and care. Her work reflects a deep understanding of luxury living alongside a practical appreciation for comfort, functionality, and the ways people use their homes.

Karin believes design is a form of art—an opportunity to capture the essence of a client’s vision and transform it into a tangible, lived experience. Blending technical expertise, artistic intuition, and advanced design tools, she creates environments that are visually compelling and deeply personal. Her eye for proportion, color, texture, lighting, and materials brings individual choices together into a cohesive whole.
